Chief Financial Officer

My client, a Local Authority in the North is looking to engage an interim Chief Financial Officer for a period of 4 - 5 months.

This authority, with a reputation for innovation is currently undergoing significant transformation and the interim CFO will play a key role in this.

The role of CFO encompasses the following responsibilities:

Section 151

Financial Advisor to the council across both Council and commercial interests.

Operational management of a large team

Management of the council's Asset Portfolio - Commercial and Council

As well as the above responsibilities, the successful applicant will be responsible for the management and delivery of a revenues and benefits shared services project with a neighbouring council.

You will also be responsible for the successful closing of the end of year accounts.

This post will be supported by a strong technical accountant, allowing the successful candidate to operate more strategically, and engage with relevant stakeholders across the council and with external providers to ensure the above is kept on track and delivered.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Full Accountancy Qualifications

Experience of Section 151 ownership

Track record of delivering successful end of year accounts for a Council

Experience of building and enabling commercial partnerships

Commercial & Council Asset Management

Excellent stakeholder engagement

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
