The successful Software Engineer will ideally have Qualifications and Experience in the following areas: Knowledge of, Hitex Keil/Tasking compilers and HiTOP IDE an advantage
Software design for reliability and testing
Knowledge of serial data communication, CANbus, CANopen, ProfiBUS, and Ethernet
PIC microcontrollers, and Microchip toolset - an advantage but not necessarily for your application
Microsoft Visual Studio, Visual C, Visual BASIC - an advantage but not necessarily for your application
Siemens S7 PLC / Mitsubishi PLC / Red Lion HMI - an advantage but not necessarily for your application
Degree qualified or equivalent
Real time' embedded 'C' programming for 16 bit microcontrollers e.g.

Infineon XC161
Practical workshop skills
Ability to work to EN, UL/CSA product standards, and other international standards
European language ability (in addition to English) - an advantage
Must speak clear fluent English
Must be free to travel worldwide with no restrictions

The appointed Software Engineer will need to carry out the following responsibilities;

Design and development of embedded control software for existing Infineon XC161 embedded systems.
Maintenance of existing software, resolve software issues as required.
Testing and validation of software prior to production release
Create documentation e.g.

service and user manuals.
Software change control through Vault data management tool
Clearly communicate changes with engineering, production and test personnel
'Small scale' applications development using Visual Studio to meet business needs e.g.

test s/w, utilities, and service tools
Work as part of electrical design team to specify control software for special purpose systems
Maintenance of PLC software
Preparation of test plans for control systems and products
Testing control systems during development; provision of necessary training to Test and Service personnel
Take technical lead in resolving test issues
Provision of technical support to customers and internal sales/service departments.
This may be by telephone, fax, e-mail, and, where required, hands on in the factory or on site in the UK/worldwide.

On occasion, travel may be required at short notice and some additional hours worked to meet business needs.
Commissioning of systems on site as and when required.
