Web Developer

Web developer required in Central London - 12 month contract

As the Web Developer you will be responsible for designing and producing technical solutions within the framework of the Intranet, Internet and Extranet platforms.

You will also be responsible for high-level support for these platforms, and should be in a position to maintain and develop web sites where necessary.


Key Responsibilities
• Develop web applications and technical solutions for all platforms.
• Take on lead developer or project manager roles within internal projects.
• Provide technical leadership and development on larger projects.
• Take ownership of several key e-Comms web apps and manage their ongoing development.
• Provide advanced web site programming using server-side programming skills to develop web solutions.

This involves the use of ASP, JSP, XML, HTML, CSS and PHP programming.


• Programming bespoke mini web applications.


• Problem solving and code fixing to improve the code quality of the Intranet, extranet and website
• Contribute to the technical development of all platforms

Skills / Experience
The role requires, but is not limited to, the following experience:

Knowledge
• The role requires an individual with an understanding of using web-based technologies to disseminate information within a large public service organisation.
• Keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies and proactively seeking ways to apply them to problems and needs within the service.
• An understanding of Project Management techniques and principles.


• Knowledge of designing and programming bespoke web services and applications.
• Knowledge of content management systems.
• Understanding of web development techniques.
