This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Java Developer to join a fast paced FTSE100 company.

This role is based within a newly formed division within our clients area, specialising in Secure Mobile Data Solutions and supplying many public sectors across the UK, you will be working with high profile accounts and impacting the future of a very new sector of the business.

Working within a small, friendly team, you will be working a 37.5 hours a week over five days (there is flexibility to decide your own hours so long as core hours are included).

Working within a waterfall environment you will be developing the core code base (Java on Blackberry and Windows Mobile) and carrying out unit tests on developed code.

Other key elements of this role include

• Supporting the test team during the test cycle
• Supporting client applications including analysis of issues and development of patches as needed
• Provide a general point of technical support, analysis and consultancy as needed

As this role involves working with confidential information you will be required to be eligible for Security Clearance.

To gain (SC) clearance you will normally have had to have been working in the UK for the last 5 years or be a British Citizen - if this is not the case please do not apply.

Essential Experience/Skills

• Experience on one or more large projects or three or more smaller projects using Java across the full project life cycle from project inception into handover to support
• Experience of providing development support (that is analysis of issues and development of fixes as opposed to first line support)
• Experience developing applications with user interfaces (ideally, though not necessarily on a mobile platform)
• Knowledge and understanding of good development process including requirements capture, documentation and version control
• The ability to gain (SC) clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.



Desired Experience/Skills

• Any experience of mobile development, specifically:
o Mobile development on the Java platform using the full Java stack (ideally on the BlackBerry or Windows mobile)
o J2ME
o AWT/Swing UI Development on mobile devices
• Knowledge of Windows Mobile and/or the BlackBerry OS
• Knowledge of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)
• Knowledge of XML (including SAX/DOM parsing, XSL-T, XPath, DTD, XSchema)
• Knowledge of SQL (ideally Oracle or SQL Server)

Personal Attributes

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• The ability to organise and prioritise your own workload
