Membership Director

Our client, a leading transatlantic business organisation dedicated to helping companies build their businesses on both sides of the Atlantic, has a unique opportunity for a Membership Director to join their team based in the London Office.

This role not only offers a fantastic opportunity to join a great team but also to work with senior executives from a range of companies, from SMEs to top-level multinationals at the highest levels.

A broader role integrating events and communications may also be considered for the right candidate.

Your principal task will be to retain and recruit member companies to the organisation in London, supported by a small team.  You and your team will be the points of contact for members on all membership related issues, and it will be your job to make sure that regular contact is maintained with our member companies and their views and objectives taken fully into account.

You will also work closely with our Events Team who generate 60 plus events for our members each year.

You will participate as a member of the senior UK management team in overall planning, development and management of the organisation in London.

Your role will also require you to work collaboratively with the wider organisation and the senior management team based in the US to identify opportunities for further increase the value of the organisation to its members.

Essential Requirements and skills

  • A proven track record in effective account management
  • A minimum of three years experience in leading a team
  • Experience of working for or with a membership or not-for-profit organisation (desirable).
  • Experience of professional communications environments and products (desirable)
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) with the confidence to present to the organisation to Board of Directors as well as Senior Level Executives in multi-national organisations
  • Ability to think strategically and identify relevant opportunities for members
  • Strong relationship management, business development and networking skills
  • Excellent presentation, written, verbal and numeric skills
  • Attention to detail - a must
  • Financial forecasting and budget management skills
  • Strong team working skills and ability to collaborate
  • First rate interpersonal skills; social, lively and confident
  • Understanding of UK and US corporate cultures with a broad knowledge of business, economic and social issues highly desirable.
