Operations Manager | Biogas

The Green Recruitment Company have been exclusively engaged by a leading, multi-disciplinary industrial Energy-from-Waste (EfW) Project Developer, seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their dynamic renewable energy outfit.

This Client are a key player in the Energy from Waste space, pioneers of industrial scale biogas production.

With sustainability running through the core of their business and an impressive client portfolio, this prospective individual will need to hit the ground running and immerse themselves into large scale, high-calibre projects across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

In line with the recent establishment of a number of biogas plants on major industrial manufacturing sites, this individual will maintain and orchestrate the smooth operational functions of the sites from day one;

* Manage the operational functions of all on-going projects within the growing portfolio.

* Technical, administrative, and economical approaches need to be used ensuring you have thorough technical knowledge and sound business acumen in your approach

* Operation & Maintenance Management and budgets

* O & M office duties, administration and registration in accordance with given legislation

* Control all aspects of the operation including a maintenance schedule as well as a planned preventative maintenance regime.

* Practical hands-on participation in all O&M tasks

* Managing a range of subcontractors/suppliers when required for O&M tasks

* Purchase of consumables, components and spare parts

* Ensuring the plant is in line with contract obligations and approved O/M budget

* Compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards

* Control of health and safety including risk assessments, hazard control and method statements for works and access etc.

The Individual

* You will be a qualified engineer with several years of experience of operations and maintenance management in biogas production, energy or another transferable industry.

* H&S Certified professional, or a clear and relevant understanding of HSE.

* Degree educated in an engineering or similarly relevant discipline.

* A clear track record of project delivery under your previous operational management.

* You have necessary documented skills and certificates for operating and maintaining energy equipment.

* An ability to see things as part of the bigger picture.

* To act with authority and delegate responsibilities in confidence that the final project completion is on time.

* A passion for the renewables industry and clear understanding of the sector.
