Senior Survey Statistician

Role: Senior Survey Statistician
Location: London
Salary: £35k - £55k (depending on skills & experience)
Application deadline: 2nd September 2016

About the job
We are looking to recruit a Senior Survey Statistician to join a team of statisticians based in our London office.

The team is part of the Survey Research Centre (SRC), a department specialising in delivering high quality social surveys such as the Health Survey for England, the National Travel Survey, the British Social Attitudes survey and many others.

Statisticians play an important role in all of the surveys undertaken by us.

They are responsible for designing and drawing all survey samples, generating survey weights and developing new methodology related to survey design and analysis.

In addition they act as internal consultants, advising and training researchers in statistical methodology and contributing to research proposals and technical reports.

As a Senior Survey Statistician, you will be responsible for designing and implementing sampling strategies across a range of cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys.

You will have an aptitude for explaining statistical issues to a non-technical audience as you will be working directly alongside researchers with different levels of knowledge and experience.

You will also play a key role in winning new work by contributing to research proposals and attending pitches.

To succeed in the role you will need an excellent academic background and experience of applying statistical methods to surveys in social/market research or academia.

You will be a competent user of SPSS or STATA.

Experience of teaching/training would be an advantage.

A good standard of written English is essential.

In return there is a good salary on offer in a friendly and personable team where your achievements will be recognised.

There will be ample opportunity to progress your career with support from colleagues, external courses and internal training.

The post will be at Senior or Research Director level, depending on experience.
