Overview - Senior Health Care Assistant

This is a full time, permanent vacancy, whereby if you are successful you will be employed directly by the business.

I am recruiting for one of Safehands Recruitments prestigious clients based in the Hereford area for a reputable Nursing home.

My Clients nursing home is, is committed to delivering the highest standards of person centred residential care to the older people resident in our homes who suffer for dementia and general age related illnesses.

Person Specification- Senior Health Care Assistant


The senior care Assistant role will require a dedicated, hardworking and reliable individual to be an active and core member of staff.

As Senior Care Assistant you will ensure continuity of care to residents by promoting and delivering high standards of care, individually and safely, and supporting, representative and instructing less experienced staff to enable them to fully contribute to the care team.

A Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care is essential, alongside demonstrative experience of a similar position.

Must be able to work 12 hour shifts over a 7 day week.


Full Driving License

Key Responsibilities- Senior Health Care Assistant

The key responsibilities of our Senior Care Assistants include:

Provide staff support, demonstration and instruction of care activities, particularly in relation to the induction of new staff.

Participate in the rota, to ensure senior care support is available at all times

Responsible for the ordering and distribution of prescribed medication to residents.

Assist residents in their personal care including toileting, bathing, dressing and undressing, ensuring optimum independence, dignity and respect of individuals.

Serve meals and beverages, encouraging and assisting in the feeding of residents requiring additional attention at mealtimes.

Contribute to the effective creation of person centred care plans

Carry out care activities in accordance with the person centred care plan

Assist residents with restricted mobility to move to dining areas at mealtimes and other communal areas for social activities and to the privacy of their bedrooms at their request.

Ensure bedroom areas are kept tidy, pleasant and comfortable by making beds, regularly changing bed linen and emptying commodes.

Responsible for the regular cleaning of equipment involved in personal care of residents, including commodes and wheelchairs.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors and colleagues
