Programme Manager (Transport Sector Experience)

Our client is a currently going through a large business transformation.

They currently seek a Programme Manager to support the delivery of the whole work-stream, managing a diverse range of programmes and projects to time, budget and quality standards in compliance with agreed project management standards and procedures.

We are looking for an experienced Transformation and change expert who has strong stakeholder management skills.

The role will require someone from a large transaction environment and we are looking for you to lead delivery/ project teams.

In conjunction with Commercial Operations, analyse, manage and govern resources to deliver projects on time, on budget and take direct responsibility to negotiate change control revenues and effective communication of project progress.

You will deliver Project Management services across a range of projects, the majority of which will be external facing work across their Yorkshire and North West offices.

The client is happy for the successful candidate to be based either in their Yorkshire or North West offices.

You must have experience working within the Transport.

The strategic aspect of the role requires you to align the various levels of Project maturity in the areas of your jurisdiction, getting these tied into for the overall operational and technical strategy for the various platforms.

During implementation phases you will be required to mobilise project team and ensure identified tasks are progressed correctly and schedule.

You will take responsibility to manage a highly skilled team of Project Managers.

The client is looking for the successful candidate to establish individual responsibilities within each project and ensure there is clear vertical and horizontal communication throughout the project.

Working with a cross-functional team including technical and business resources, the Programme Manager role is to successfully lead the project team through the various stages of Integration Programmes and software development life cycle, managing both project risk and complexity.

The job holder will be required to identify and resolve any issues which may impact on the successful delivery of a project.

The project manager will apply a matrix style of management that will require liaison with on-site resources, UK team members which are geographically dispersed, overseas teams and 3rd party vendors.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for understanding an addressing any perceived business impacts of project delivery.

The crux of the role is to ensure that there is a clear understanding of business requirements and priorities ensuring appropriate IT solutions are identified & delivered in an expedient manner.

You will define and own the IT Mission, formulate and deploy short, medium and long-term strategic IT Plans that align the IT business model with business needs of the organisation.

In terms of experience you will have 10 years + experience as a Programme Manager/ Senior Project Manager with a good understanding of Software development life cycle.

Any formal project management qualification such as Prince2, MSP, PMP, Six sigma will give you a distinct advantage but not essential.

A pre-requisite is the ability to consult with and gain the support of the key stakeholders, in particular department heads and Managing Directors across all Divisions within UK, the CTO, COO and CEO.

You'll be a good influencer, able to get buy in from stakeholders & subordinates alike.
