Horticultural Operations Manager

Role: Horticultural Operations Manager                      

Location: Bahrain


A Horticultural Operations Manager’s post has been created which will see the post-holder have overall responsibility for the managing of the organisation’s horticultural operations in Bahrain.

The Operations Manager will be directly accountable to the Chief Executive Officer and will have line management responsibility for all other management and team members.

Job Description

  • To work with the Chief Executive Officer to develop the business into a sustainable horticultural business encompassing the plant nursery.
  • To supervise the business and support them in the planning and running of operations.
  • To work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Projects Development Coordinator in the planning, fundraising and development of all horticultural operations.
  • To be responsible for the management and maintenance of budgets for all horticultural operations. 
  • To actively publicise and promote all company’s horticultural operations.
  • To maintain service schedules and produce progress reports as and when required.
  • To ensure that Health and Safety policies are adhered to at all times. 
  • To attend meetings as and when required.

Person Specification

  • Managing a successful horticultural business.
  • Managing and motivating staff and volunteers within a professional setting.
  • Working with community groups and organisations.
  • Experience of successfully delivering projects to key targets and deadlines.
  • Monitoring and reporting on projects and/ or businesses.
  • Financial management.
  • Issues facing adults with learning difficulties and mental health issues.
  • Retail management, particularly in a horticultural setting.
  • Health and Safety legislation as relevant to Care Co-ops Horticultural Operations
  • Commercially focused, considering income generation and cost savings at all times.
  • Project management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works well within a team and on own initiative.
  • Problem solving and able to work flexibly.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
