Aldi opened its 600th UK store in Cardiff in October 2015 and also announced the building of a new, purpose built, state-of-the-art 40,000 sq metre Distribution Centre on the Capital Business Park in Wentloog which will open in 2017.

Our client Aldi is one of the fastest growing Supermarkets in the World and now has over 640 UK stores.

Aldi have vacancies for Permanent Warehouse Picker to work in the Fresh Produce Section at their new Regional Distribution Centre in Cardiff.

In total there are 40 positions available.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an award winning retailer within their newest and biggest UK Distribution Centre from the very beginning.

As a Warehouse Picker, your role will be to achieve service levels at all times, whilst contributing to an efficient and co-operative working environment, optimum productivity and minimal inventory loss.

Your duties will include:

  • Selecting products accurately and efficiently ensuring care in the handling and positioning of stock to minimise damage and optimise pallet height/ stability.

  • Achieves the set picking targets.

  • Ensures completed pallets are secured and clearly marked with the correct store number and placed in the correct despatch lane.

  • Carries out all paperwork duties accurately.

  • Ensures products are selected safely to avoid personal injury to themselves or stock loss to the company by following manual handling procedures.

  • Operates the Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any faults to the Maintenance Manager and ensures the trucks are put on charge supply at the end of the shift.

  • Ensures the workplace is kept clean and tidy and ensures all spillages/ breakages are cleared immediately.

To be considered for these opportunities, you must demonstrate the following:

  • Be fit, healthy and able to undertake a physically demanding role

  • Be a team player and able to achieve both individual and team targets

  • Be flexible in working hours as shift length can vary dependent on stock volumes

  • Appreciation of safe working practices and its importance in the workplace

  • MHE (FLT) Licences desirable

Opportunities available include working days to suit:

  • Contracts are full time.

    Working 5 out of 7 days including some weekend work.

The approximate start times for shift we currently have available are:

  • 6pm starts (Night shift).

You will need to be flexible to work between the hours available (8-10 hours a day).

Pay rates are:

  • £10.58 per hour.

Due to the required training and location of the Regional Distribution Centre your own transport is essential.

If successful you will be required to undertake 5 weeks training in the Swindon Distribution Centre from 3rd October 2016.

Transport will be provided by Aldi.
