Key Account Manager
Job Title: Key Account Manager
£30k + car / benefits
Job Purpose: To develop and maximise ‘key Specialist accounts' within both retail and wholesale member businesses by providing tailored support and advice.
To grow the Group's portfolio, turnover and profit from specialist members.
Scope: Responsible for Specialist Key accounts with likely turnover of £10m+ often operating within a multi-site environment.
Reports to: National Account Manager / Head of Independent and Specialist
Key Result Areas:
, To achieve KPI targets of sales and profit and fulfil objectives in accordance with the overall Independent & Specialist business unit strategy and plan.
, To directly assist ‘key account' members, providing practical advice and guidance on all aspects of business management to ensure that the maximum benefit is obtained through Central Distribution, exclusive brands, promotional terms and trading opportunities.
, To develop and maintain successful business relationships with existing and new members.
, To achieve and maintain professional standards across all aspects of the role in respect of work undertaken, and deal with staff at all levels of the business in a manner appropriate to their needs.
, Established track record and direct experience of business management/sales on key accounts within the retail-convenience store sector.
, Knowledge of company Retail's activities, business objectives and member support operations.
, Good working knowledge and application of MS office packages.
Specific Areas of Work:
, Advise on all aspects of company administration, member terms and services.
, Provide practical advice on business management & development, using operational experience on personnel, legal, governmental, financial, logistical, commercial and general store operations.
, Develop and use Central Distribution sales on exclusive and own branded Heritage products.
, Ensure that members adhere to the disciplines required at various Group membership levels.
, Act as the key interface between Member Support Centre colleagues and the Key accounts personnel.
, Advise on maximising trading terms, through surcharge / rebate schemes.
, Implement New Member recruitment campaigns; Integrate new members into the group assisting with training of members of staff to group systems and administration.
, Work within budgetary controls.
, Encourage and ensure member attendance at key company events including Regional meetings, conferences, Stoneleigh and new member induction events.
, Encourage members to use the company Category Management solution.
, Contribute to and agree a mutual critical development path for the member account, together with key performance measures.
, Maintain an ambassadorial role for the company at all times; actively promote and raise the profile of the KAM through central office activities and PR support.
, Provide full support to maximise Company`s product purchases; Work closely with key suppliers to drive sales for all parties.
, Manage and maintain all necessary administration as required, including producing high level reports, statistic analysis, meeting minutes, expenses and journey plans etc.
, Attend and effectively contribute to Sales Development meetings, quarterly sales reviews and other meetings as directed.
, Liaise with, communicate effectively with and build strong working relationships with both external (key account member contacts) and internal colleagues (including store development, retail trading, marketing and credit control), in order to optimise outcomes for the member.
, Assist the National Account Managers in key projects as required.
Deputise for the National Account Manager where directed.
Job Skills and Competencies
, Forecourts experience.
, Proven track record of developing sales and strong customer relationships.
Confident with communicating at all strategic levels up to and including board level.
, Strong commercial/business awareness and understanding.
, Result oriented with a strong “can do” attitude and desire to make it happen.
, Open-minded; willingness to challenge status quo.
, Flexible - willing to travel/overnight stays to meet the needs of the role.
, Excellent systems usage and general IT skills.
