Tooling Engineer

We are a leading manufacturing company specialising in the design, development and manufacture of automotive products and systems for global OEM's and Tier 1 suppliers.

Due to continued growth we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tooling Engineer to join the team.

The successful candidate will support Engineering Project Teams on Tooling for New Product Introduction.

Main responsibilities:

, To manage and support major new tooling projects for new and existing products.

, To work with Purchasing to assist with the procurement of high quality tooling and to meet productivity, quality and cost targets.
, To support Manufacturing with improvements to existing tooling and Tooling PM.

General responsibilities:

, To assist Engineering Project Management on new product design concepts, to ensure compatibility with Tooling and Operations/
, To create mould design concepts on new tooling programmes, including design, process and effective handover to operations.

, To review and assist with all mould designs and material selections for construction.

, To review procurement sourcing for new tooling/
, To review Polymer selection, to ensure cost and application compatibility.
, To assist / advise Engineering and Manufacturing on tooling maintenance, critical spares and TPM.
, To supply and maintain Tool General Assembly drawings and CAD data, including revisions.
, To manage Contract Toolmakers and monitor key events in tool builds, achieving target dates and project timelines, ensuring that company specifications and costs are met.
, To ensure that sufficient and realistic timescales are allowed in Projects, for completion of new tooling, to meet customer timescales.
, To provide continuous improvement in new tooling and tooling systems, keeping abreast of new innovations, equipment and materials
, To assist Manufacturing with problem tooling and on improvements to the running and maintaining of existing tooling and Toolroom practices.
, To inform the post holders Line Manager of any difficulties in actioning the above and agree resolution.
, Any other duties which may reasonably be required by the post holders Line Manager or Director.
