Reporting To: Finance & Operations Director

Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to manage the financial performance of the Company, through a combination of financial reporting as well “hands on” involvement within the business to improve performance.

This role has a broader remit than a standard FC role, so if you want exposure to, and involvement in, operational projects, working under an Operational FD and MD who can guide you across both finance and operations, this could be the role for you.

As part of a larger Group that is backed by private equity, you will have exposure to a challenging working environment that is based on delivering continued growth to achieve its expansion plans.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Reporting
, Manage the preparation of the monthly accounts and assume responsibility for the financial performance of the Company
- Review and sign off the monthly Board pack
, Prepare a “bottom up” annual budget and periodic forecasts
- Derive weekly KPI targets for each department based on the annual budget
, Consolidate all financial reporting into Group reporting structure
, Act as main point of contact to external auditors and provide all information required by them

, Approve monthly customer offers and ad-hoc pricing decisions
, Review price strategy to maximise profitability

KPI Reporting / Analysis
, Prepare weekly KPI file and review with the managers within the business
, Work with the managers to drive performance in their areas to ensure that business objectives are achieved
, Work with the managers to help them develop their understanding of company finances and decision making
, Development of Insight - perform business analytics across all departments, to identify trends and causal factors and offer solutions that can be used to improve performance and develop Company strategy

, Work with the FD and MD to develop the Company Strategy, using financial and non-financial techniques to document the strategy and manage performance against the objectives
, Appraise investment decisions for the Company, including, but not limited to investment in resource planning, technology and company acquisition.
, Act as reference point for the MD and FD to challenge ideas and offer objective opinion to agree on the most suitable course of action for the Company

Project Management
, Where appropriate, manage projects within the business; this may include implementation of new systems, upgrades to existing systems or implementing process changes.

Skills / Attributes
, Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW)
, Previous experience in a similar role
, Excellent people skills with experience in managing and influencing others
, Excellent computer skills
