Digital Technology Consultant / Project Manager 

Following significant growth over the last 6 months, a new Digital Technology Consultant is required in the Digital Strategy team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast growing, ambitious but fun technology company!  

Our clients look to us to ensure their project teams include people with the technical depth and practical experience of working with and deploying new technologies into both green-field and legacy-heavy environments.

Digital Consultants may be used to provide strategic guidance to clients with regard to technology, IT infrastructures and enabling major business processes through enhancements to IT.

They can also be used to provide guidance during technology selection and procurement as well as providing expert technical assistance, and may be responsible for user training and feedback.

IT consultants may also be involved in sales and business development, as well as technical duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meeting with clients to determine requirements;
  • Working with clients to define the scope of a project;
  • Planning timescales and the resources needed;
  • Clarifying a client's system specifications, understanding their work practices and the nature of their business;
  • Travelling to customer sites;
  • Liaising with staff at all levels of a client organisation;
  • Defining software, hardware and network requirements;
  • Analysing IT requirements within companies and giving independent and objective advice on the use of IT;
  • Developing agreed solutions and implementing new systems;
  • Assisting with preparing and presenting solutions in written or oral reports;
  • Helping clients with change-management activities;
  • Purchasing systems where appropriate;
  • Designing, testing, installing and monitoring new systems;
  • Preparing documentation and presenting progress reports to customers;
  • Organising training for users and other consultants;
  • Being involved in sales and support, and where appropriate, maintaining contact with client organisations;
  • Identifying potential clients and building and maintaining contacts.

Essential Requirements

  • Be able to hit the ground running, made possible through prior experience
  • Possesses solid problem solving and decision making skills coupled with strong analytical thought processes
  • Have a desire to succeed and react positively to opportunities
  • Be numerate and logical with keen eye for data models and data
  • Organise themselves and others well
  • Adapt quickly to new situations
  • Happy to write reports, deliver presentations, travel, punt down the river, make cocktails, root their phone and play computer games
  • Good understanding and experience of traditional and ‘agile’ project management methodologies and how to apply them
  • Demonstrable project management experience in ICT solution deployment – Agile, PRINCE2 or other qualifications would be an advantage
  • Track record of success in of implanting and integrating CRM systems, such as Salesforce, and the stories to prove it
  • Understanding of infrastructure fundamentals – data centres, networking, virtualisation (server and application), desktop management
  • General understanding of project forecasting, reporting and budgeting
  • Degree preferred
