Senior Bookkeeper

Our client is is a multi-faceted accountancy practice with offices in the West End of London and Stevenage.

They are a dynamic forward-thinking firm with an outstanding reputation with both their clients and within the profession.

Based in the Stevenage office, you will report to the Head of Accounting Support.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a bookkeeper, qualified by experience working in professional practice, seeking an opportunity to develop and/or broaden their skill set within a professional and supportive environment.

This role will give you exposure to a variety of their clients across a wide range of industries and sectors.

Full training and support will be provided on the job.

Main duties and responsibilities, these include but are not limited to:

* Bookkeeping and Accounting

* Undertaking Xero and Sage 50 bookkeeping

* VAT returns

* Monthly management accounts preparation

* Cash book entry and bank reconciliation, checking company details and processing as required

* Maintaining the Sales ledger and purchase ledger

* Prepayments, accruals and journal entries

* Foreign currency

* Processing employee expenses

* Preparing invoices

* Completing VAT coding

* Maintaining client files, to include i.e.

inputting data and processing payments as required

* Maintaining databases, ensuring all information is kept up to date, i.e.

data entry, scanning, electronic filing, client details

* Liaising with clients directly or through relevant manager to resolve queries or obtain further information.

* Working closely with managers, advising them on any outstanding issues

* Develop and maintain good client relations

* Undertake research/ad hoc projects

Qualifications & Experience

* Bookkeeping experience within a professional practice is essential

* Experience with Xero or Sage50 desirable but not essential

* GCSE qualifications to include grade C or above in English and Maths

* Confidence with working with numbers


* Strong organisational and administrative skills

* Excellent attention to detail

* Ability to work to tight deadlines

* Ability to communicate with clients by email and telephone in a professional manner

* Team player

* Prepared to learn

* Self-motivated with a proactive approach

Part qualified or qualified AAT, would be very advantageous.

Salary: £28,000 - 30,000/annum
