Technical Sales Manager

Technical Sales Manager (Manufacturing / Construction): A business development minded person with experience of the construction industry, specifically in sectors such as education, leisure, retail, and health (promoting the company into local authorities directly and via main contractors) is required to join a leading design & build company specialising in timber and steel canopies, walkways and sustainable buildings.

The company is looking for continued growth after winning some prestigious contracts in including contracts for Costa Coffee and Whipsnade Zoo.

Based in the West Sussex head office, and reporting to senior management, product support expertise will be provided by the internal technical and sales departments, and full product training will be provided.

The role will focus on following up confirmed leads generated by the marketing and telesales teams, attending key account and new prospect meetings, and winning new business.

The ability to build close relationships with stakeholders at all levels is essential to ensure repeat business and client recommendations.


- Responding to confirmed leads generated by the internal marketing team
- Organising site visits to discuss and develop new business
- Site surveying for quotation purposes
- Identifying opportunities to cross sell / up sell other products
- Interpreting the customer's requirements, estimating and producing a proposal document for the end client
- Management of your own diary and logging all meetings and interactions on sales CRM system
- Handover to internal project management team

Skills & Experience:

- Self-motivation
- Ability to survey sites
- Experience of negotiating with main contractors and end users (from SMEs to large corporates)
- Strong account management skills
- A demonstrable history of converting enquiries into sales
- Knowledge of construction terminology
- Working Knowledge of all Microsoft office software
- Competent in reading and understanding construction drawings
