Tactical Buyer / Expediter

Market leading global aerospace company working with the world's leading aircraft OEM's on multiple programmes.

Nature of work:
Sources and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.

Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.

Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.

Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.

Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.

May prepare bid packages

Specifically Includes:
, Working closely within the cell team and co-operating with all other areas of the business to achieve a friendly, productive environment.

, Working closely with the Accounts Payable teams ensuring there are minimal invoices in query.
, Using JDE and associated reports to establish material requirements.
, The procurement of all necessary materials and services for the cell in order to achieve customer requirements across both OEM and Aftermarket Business's.
, Order Book management and expediting of suppliers to prevent production shortages.
, Inventory management through careful scheduling and communication with suppliers.
, Cost management through challenging supplier pricing where appropriate and improving on system costs.
, Quality management through ensuring that only approved suppliers are used and company procedures are adhered to.
, Any other reasonable duties as required.

Key Objectives:
, Achieve >98% On-time delivery to customer request date (CRD).
, Zero stock holding.
, >10% positive PPV to standard cost.

Level of work:
, Performs general tasks, troubleshoots and resolves issues under allocated work priorities and daily assignments
, Interfaces internally with the supply chain teams in Leighton Buzzard, operations teams, account managers and customer services across both OEM and Aftermarket Business's.
, Interfaces externally with B/E facilities with manufacturing capability or stick holding capacities and the vendor base as well as regulatory authorities for audit purposes as appropriate

, Experience in Aerospace Materials/supply chain or similar environment
, A good basic knowledge of MRP/ERP Systems and reports, proven track record of achievement in a relevant position
, Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc)
, Excellent interpersonal skills
, A Level/HND
, CIPS Post Graduate Diploma (or Equivalent)

, Experience of working in Aerospace would be beneficial
, Second language advantageous
, UK Driving license
, Enthusiasm and “will to win”,
, Flexible and willing to work as a team
, Experience use of JD Edwards world or Enterprise one.
, Excellent internal and external communication and negotiation skills.
