The financial services team of this leading London based law firm is seeking to recruit a financial services solicitor (2-4PQE).


You as the successful individual will have excellent academic credentials, high quality legal experience, energy & enthusiasm.

You will be circa 2-4PQE;

Will have excellent financial services experience and exposure including acting for private banks & in particular regulated mortgages;

You will be someone who enjoys working in a small cohesive team & is keen to support the firm's goal of providing outstanding client service.

The position also offers the right individual an opportunity to be actively involved in the continued growth & development of this newly-expanded financial services practice.

You will get first class training and support.

You will work closely with clients and assume real responsibility.

Matters often have a cross-border element, so you will frequently liaise with specialists in overseas jurisdictions.

The practice has expanded considerably in the last year.

The Team advises a broad range of clients ranging from high street banks, investment banks, corporate finance houses, private equity firms, hedge funds, MTFs, e-money issues, inter-dealer brokers, family offices, corporates, asset managers & individuals.


The work covers a broad spectrum of matters, including:

, Advice on regulatory scope;
, Perimeter issues, including the need for FSA authorisation,
, Drafting bespoke client facing documentation for clients;
, Authorisations - including for banks, e-money issuers, investment managers, advisers/arrangers, operators;
, Regulatory due diligence for corporate transactions;
, Conflicts of interest projects;
, Market conduct advice;
, Corporate governance;
, Systems and controls advice;
, Regulatory capital and liquidity - particularly in the context of transaction structuring;
, General compliance (including AML) advice - a wide range of day-to-day compliance topics;
, Advice on implications of regulatory developments;
, Change of control advice and applications;
, Procedure and policy reviews;
, Investment research guidance;
, Standard template reviews;
, Tactics and strategy vis-à-vis FSA - including in relation to potential investigations;
, Boundary guidance - for example, on what can and cannot be done without FSA authorisation;
, Application and interpretation of FSA rules and guidance;
, Financial promotions; and
, MiFID advice - including, implementation of policies, scope and ongoing developments.
