Area manager - Learning Disabilities

An opportunity has arisen for an Area Manager to join their team.

This is the ideal role for an Area Manager looking to develop their career.

As an Area Manager, you will be an active leader to a group of allocated supports and with responsibility for the overall operational management and financial performance ensuring all legislative and quality requirements are met in accordance with their mission, vision, policies and procedures.

Your responsibilities will be:

To provide Management and Leadership across the group of allocated supports ensuring a proactive, positive, and friendly approach with fresh new ideas

To ensure that I have a thorough and up to date needs assessment, support and risk management plans and forecasted SMART outcomes which are reviewed on a quarterly basis

To meet with teams regularly to lead and manage performance, focusing on consistent practice standards and their impact on achieving outcomes for everyone you serve

To ensure supports are delivered in partnership with the people you serve, families and carers through real consultation and participation

To ensure the supports you manage meet the requirements of Care Quality Commission/Ofsted and you adhere to the safeguarding processes, in line with the local authorities requirements

Critically evaluating the quality of the support provided through monthly visits to the supports to complete quality and financial audits, and to formulate actions plans which you then follow up to develop the support in conjunction with the appropriate Service Manager

To maximise the financial performance of the group of supports, ensuring they meet agreed targets.

To market the supports to commissioners and actively pursue referrals and admissions

To ensure the use of the employee on boarding Process to recruit and appoint suitable staff to the support teams in a timely manner

To promote the professional development of staff through formal and informal support sessions, managing individual performance, ongoing coaching and mentoring

To be available on a consultancy basis outside office hours as part of the corporate On-Call rota

To ensure that the environments in which we live are maintained to a high quality standard

To ensure the group of allocated supports adheres to the arrangements and procedures on fire prevention and Health and Safety policies

To attend local provider forums, representing their progressive organisation

To oversee investigations undertaken by grievance handlers

To investigate alleged acts of misconduct and to chair disciplinary, appeal and grievance meetings

To oversee staff performance including the management of long term sickness or other unauthorised absences including the implementation of the Bradford Factor

To keep your own knowledge up to date and ensure it is reflected in your practices

To ensure rotas are planned that meet the needs of the people we serve and that actual rotas are monitored to ensure all hours are provided in line with the contract

To attend contract meetings to feedback on performance to the local authority

To provide effective communication regarding any exceptions to the Registered Manager, Lead Managers and Chief Executive Officer

To ensure care and support matrices are reviewed annually and when there is a change in need or a new person is to be served

To be considered for the role of Area Manager, you must have:

Experience in a similar role, such as Area Manager, Care Manager or Regional Manager

Experience of managing dispersed services across a geographical area for people who have a learning disability

Experience of assessing people needs and can also evidence some audacious outcomes for the people they have previously supported.

Experience of working in a care setting using CQC guidelines and also evidence compliance in line with CQC standards and other relevant legislation.

Ability to work flexibly and in a number of locations and travel - Car driver with a clean record.

Additionally, you must possess a Relevant professional and management qualification, Good leadership and judgement skills, Excellent communication and strategic skills.
