Head of Software Development

HEAD OF SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - BASINGSTOKE - CIRCA £70K PLUS £5,600 CAR ALLOWANCE 25%BONUS

A leading FTSE250 company a currently recruiting for a Head of Software Development to work in their Innovation and Technology team in Basingstoke.



The Head of Software Development will be reporting to the Software Development Director and be responsible for the management and coordination of highly skilled resources and industry standard processes to delivery high quality software products.

You will work closely with the Software development and Architecture management team members, and Product management, to develop coherent software development strategies, software product road-maps and identifying associated projects.



The Head of Software development will have 18 direct and indirect reports and cover 2 sites, you will be required to drive development capability and delivery their strategy and taking into account emerging and legacy technologies.

Planning for the growth considering the blend and level of skills required in the team.

Managing off/near shore development partners and ensuring they delivery an effective flexible team model.

You will be required to create and maintain a professional culture within the team where individuals take ownership and promote new ideas as the key driver of innovation within the Software development team.



To be considered for the Software Development Manager's role you will have experience of leading and managing software development teams and also managing off/near shore third party suppliers.

Proven experience of driving and leading cultural change and achieving group commitment to sustain the desired change.

Able to manage teams approx 20 across multiple locations and have an excellent and demonstrable knowledge of software development processes (Waterfall and Agile) is essential.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft and Java technologies and demonstrable experience of applying the right technology to the right application.

Good understanding of budgetary control and resource allocation procedures as well as strong delivery and implementation skills from inception to acceptance.



You will be willing to travel both domestically and internationally.



The role offers salary circa £70,000 plus £5,600 car allowance, 25% bonus, 26 days holiday, Excellent Pension, Private Healthcare and Life Assurance 4 x salary.
