Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading entrepreneurial engineering company, developing a revolutionary energy efficiency product is actively seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing company.

, Mechanical Design experience
, Solidworks design experience
, Degree in Mechanical engineer or a relevant engineering degree.



The work is absolutely cutting edge designing a range of equipment centred around high speed turbogenerators.



Key responsibilities
, Delivery of assigned system or sub-system level projects through the development of mechanical design solutions from rough sketches and oral instructions to fully detailed designs.
, Working up module or system concepts to meet product requirements.
, Mechanical design of high speed rotating machines (ideally including rotordynamics, composites and electrical machines)
, Performing mechanical engineering analysis (stress, fluids, vibrations, thermal)
, Utilize FEA (Ansys) tools to analyse designs and potential improvements.
, Performs tolerance analysis at system and sub-system level.
, Supports driving full documentation of design including, BOM, drawings, and procedures.
, Assist in resolving non-conformances in the design
, Utilize design of experiments and failure analysis to drive improvements across engineering domains
, Interacts closely with development engineers, scientists, suppliers, and QA to resolve quality issues.
, To maintain a technical awareness of processes, materials and systems relevant to product design
, Using company Engineering Change process to introduce design changes.

Background, Experience & Education
, First degree in mechanical, automotive, aerospace or power engineering is required
, 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
, Experience in designing high speed rotating machines
, Proficient in FEA tools such as Ansys
, Ability to communicate analytical results to all levels of the engineering organisation
, Creative and methodical problem solving skills
, Able to decide on the appropriate level of reliance and accuracy to attach to a variety of results obtained
