Deputy Manager

Salary: £11.50 per hour
Hours: Full time - week days and weekends on a rota as well as occasional nights.

This home is a delightful Tudor residential care home, in the pretty and attractive village of Ashurst.

Its peaceful location, on the edge of the beautiful, picturesque New Forest National Park offers an ideal location for a restful retirement.

The home is within walking distance of shops and other amenities.

Ashurst Station, with frequent trains into Southampton, Bournemouth, London and other large cities in the South, is a five minutes' walk.

As a ‘Hands on' Deputy Manager in a residential care home for up to 19 people, you will work alongside the care staff, moving and handling people and objects on a regular basis and demonstrating effective team working skills, as well as leading by example, to deliver and improve services to ensure provision of high quality, person centred care.

Management duties will involve office administration and use of computer (Word and Excel experience essential) to produce documentation in English to an agreed business standard.

You will also take responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.

You must be able to use you initiative, take responsibility for your own actions and organise yourself to perform your own role effectively, while also taking account of the needs and priorities of others.

You must be open and honest, willing to listen, support others and show understanding.

You will be required to influence and motivate others, set direction, review performance and support people through performance management, to achieve agreed goals.

You must have the confidence and ability to take action if others are not working as required and agreed.

The role will involve contributing to plans for improvement, leading and supporting change processes and making evidence based decisions.

You must present a professional image, demonstrate a professional approach and have the ability to promote our service through effective communication in English, with residents, families and others that come into contact with the care home.

Experience working in social care is essential, with a minimum of a level 3 Social Care qualification, gained in the workplace.

Residential care experience preferred.
