Software Product Strategy Manager from Music Ind.

Software Product Strategy Manager from the Music Industry for Rights & Royalties Software - Max £55k - London

Location: London, near Euston and King's Cross

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 plus discretionary bonus and benefits

The world leader in rights and royalties software for the music, film, TV and licensing industries require an enthusiastic individual experienced in the music industry and software product lifecycle to fill a Product Strategy Manager role for their Software Product Strategy team.

This is a role in which you'll be providing solutions for the industry as a whole, dealing with numerous companies globally as opposed to being pigeon-holed into a narrow role.

The perfect candidate for this role would be someone who has worked in one of the digital services for the music industry or the digital supply chain of the music industry.

For example Google Play Music, Spotify, iTunes or Apple Music and were involved in their product lifecycle or development strategy.

What we're looking for as a minimum in order to be eligible for interview is:

The experience and attributes required for this role are as follows:

, At least 3 years of experience in the music industry, for example with a digital music service, record label or music publisher
, A minimum of 3 years of experience in a strategic role such as business strategy or product strategy in the music industry
, Experience in the software PRODUCT development lifecycle
, Strong technology understanding: Experience working with software and technology projects: NOT hands-on experience: We don't mean experience in, for example, building a server! We mean experience interacting with the team that did that and conveying the business needs to the technical team.
, The ability to analyse and capture complex business problems: When have you done that before? What examples can you give us?
, Excellent written, verbal and communication skills, able to interact professionally at all levels.

For example, are your written skills to the standard of producing flawless bid documentation?

The above-bulleted list of experience and attributes are essential: Please note you require all of them in order for to be eligible for this role.

This is a strategy consulting role applied to rights and royalties software products for the music industry.

You would be a Strategy Consultant within the Product Strategy team leading both the strategy development AND execution of their software solutions aimed at the music industry.

This role is less about the back office and more about how they get their product progressing in the modern day of music being consumed over streaming and download services, primarily streaming services.

For example, they need to re-vamp their entire record label offering to be more digital-focussed, to be more user-friendly with regards to streaming, etc.

They need your help to achieve that! This is liaising with development managers and developers in multiple geographical locations.

What does it take to get a product to market in a commercial environment?

So why come here? Why do this?

Well, we suspect that at the moment you're in one of two situations:

, EITHER: You're at a big record label but your ideas keep being rejected or scuppered in some other way by bureaucracy, so you have the breadth of role, but not the execution.

, OR: You're in a narrow niche (e.g.

solely digital music), so you have the execution but not the breadth.

Here you will have BOTH the execution AND the breadth of role: Your ideas get put into action and it's a broad strategy role across many companies worldwide across the entire music industry.

This is a position for someone looking for a leadership role: The career path here is to move up to a team leader position running the product Strategy Team.

Longer-term and in the wider group, the opportunities here have been described as “endless”: You can choose your career path along the route of managerial, corporate, or deeper into your chosen industry sector.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a specific requirement for people with experience in the music industry.

Please be aware that there is no point in applying if you do not match the above criteria and have never worked in the music industry before!
