Job description:

Core-Asset Consulting's client, a UK based investment bank, is looking for a HR Business Partner to join their team in Edinburgh for a fixed term contract of 10 - 12 months.

Core responsibilities:

  • Main HR contact for the Edinburgh office

  • Active management of people issues to support the business in improving performance, mitigating risk relating to people

  • Provision of HR support and back up to the head of HR on leadership and people development, performance management, reward and employee engagement, recruitment and employee relations

  • First line advice to all levels of line management in relation to resourcing, performance, reward, employee relations matters, and provision of generalist HR support to ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures

  • Provide support to the head of HR on the pay review process including final checks for accuracy

  • Build positive working relationships with the business teams

  • Support line managers in performance management and development across client group, including managing under performance

  • Advice and coach on performance management processes

  • Support in the delivery of 100% completion target for objectives, mid and end of year reviews, reviewing and distributing MI

  • Reporting through the online system to check on-going progress

  • Use analysis and judgement to solve business problems

  • Face to face first line support for employee relations issues

  • Work with the client group to develop and maintain a positive employee relations environment and to up skill managers

  • Manage the application of disciplinary/grievance procedures where appropriate

  • Support managers in managing frequent short-term and long term sickness absence

  • Liaise with occupational health as appropriate

  • Management of secondments and short term assignments

  • Support and drive recruitment and selection processes, attracting high calibre candidates

  • Work with the business to deliver a flexible and additive training plan to support development across the business

  • Responsible for management of the overall training budget

  • Support the business in driving employee engagement

  • Manage the sponsor licence, working with our external legal team to ensure compliance

  • Ensure all employees have the continuing right to work in the UK

Core requirements:

  • Achieved or studying towards CIPD or graduate member / similar level relevant HR qualification

  • Progressive background in human resources environments, preferably in financial services

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and practices

  • Employee relations experience capability in formal and informal grievance and disciplinary situations

  • Experience of managing a sponsor licence

  • Strong competence in interviewing, for employee relations, recruitment and exit discussions.

  • Proven interpersonal and coaching skills

  • Integrity and evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
