£10.00 per hour (Covering Long Term Sickness)


HOURS 8.45AM - 5.15PM

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading and well respected financial services company located in the Bury St Edmunds area that are looking to expand their payroll and accounts team.


The position of Payroll Assistant is an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate looking to work with a hugely successful company that has seen great success in over 100 years of business.

RESPONSIBILTIES:



  • Completion of the monthly payroll for covering over 350 staff

  • Working in a busy team of 3 in the Payroll department

  • Assisting with bookkeeping tasks and processes

  • Producing labour reports

  • Checking Client VAT returns

  • Meeting with Clients face to face

  • Calculating SSP, SMP, SPP and NI

  • Calculation of statutory and company sick pay

  • Raising credit notes, answering queries and progress chasing.

  • Building strong and productive relationships with co-workers throughout the business


THE CANDIDATE:


Essential:



  • Payroll experience

  • Experience with Start Payroll or Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Office

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths


Desirable:



  • An excellent telephone manner and communication skills

  • Ability to work proactively as a self-starter

  • BACS processing experience

  • AAT Qualification

  • A Level or Higher qualifications
