Residential Support Worker
My client, a highly respected organisation, who provide residential care and domiciliary care for children and young people with Mental Health, learning and physical disabilities and complex needs with associated challenging behaviour, are looking for highly experienced Children's Residential Support Workers for their 5-bed residential home in North Lancashire Area; however the role may include working in one of their other homes so the candidate must be a car driver.
Furthering this requirement all applicants, as per the request of the client, must be ages 21 or above.
The successful candidate must have previous knowledge and come from a background of working in a variety of residential settings, working with a wide range of young people.
Candidates who have their NVQ Level 3 qualification would be highly advantageous, although not essential providing that you have worked with children and young people with EBD.
As a CRW, you will have the mind-set and desire to secure a safe outcome for all children and young people within the school, be passionate about improving the life chances of young people, be able to encourage their independence and have the resilience and drive to motivate them to achieve success.
Your main responsibilities will be:
*Promoting a warm and accepting atmosphere, where the care and safety of the young people is paramount and contributing towards the maintenance of a positive, safe and homely environment
*Working proactively within the daily routine to include day to day parenting responsibilities such as domestic chores, cooking, shopping, registering the young children with the local doctors/dentists, supporting them with homework and participate in activities
*Liaising with agencies, education providers, parents and social workers to effectively fulfil the responsibility of parenting, ensuring the maintenance of family contact where appropriate
*Dealing with a change of environment as the nature of the work will result in children and young people coming and going and being able to respond proactively, calmly, positively and appropriately to emergency situations, following agreed home and local procedures
*Adhere to all relevant aspects of legislation, regulation, standards, home policies and procedures and develop your own understanding of the practices
*Ensuring the safe storage of medication is in line with home policy and procedure
*Undertaking appropriate training and demonstrating a commitment to ongoing training
The successful candidates must have the ability to engage with young people and to understand and prioritise their needs, have the resilience to cope with challenging behaviour and be able to be a positive role model and have a positive and strong character and be pro-active regarding the safeguarding of the children and young people.
The starting salary of this role is £15,265 with uplift for any potential sleep in duties.
All staff are provided with induction training including to shadow shifts with various staff members and young people.
