Supply Chain/ COGS controller


I am currently looking to recruit an Accountant or COGS Controller to manage cost control and efficiencies.

You must have 3-4 years experience within accountancy.

The Accountant will report directly into the Head of Supply Chain Cluster Controller.

This UK office based company in Slough.


To manage and improve the financial processes on a project level in a manner that ensures the organization of proper operational and financial control information.


Responsibilities: COGS Controller

  • Support the Head of Logistics in delivery of financial targets by influencing and monitoring the operation within the context of operational plan

  • Act as a finance business partner delivering advice through analysis

  • Continuously identify and drive efficiency opportunities within the scope of the function and business strategy (“follow the money” mind-set) amongst others

  • Support Head of Logistics in understanding Material Efficiency and identify improvement opportunities

  • Support Head of Logistics in engaging the Marketing and Sales Unit to help realise improvement opportunities

  • Support in creating high quality budgets and forecasts for the Logistics

  • Provide support in deploying and ensuring model adherence of the In Control Framework

  • Ensure sufficient finance understanding (activities, cost and Balance Sheet items) in Logistics and finance understanding in Marketing & sales units

  • Understand financial results in close cooperation with local Finance Manager before final submission to HQ

  • Provide timely and meaningful insights to Marketing & Sales Units, Cluster Management

  • Deploy standardized ways of working, able to share and implement shared processes and also work in a Continuous Improvement manner

  • Active role in risk understanding and mitigating actions

  • Support and ensure major project/contract sign off for new logistics provider to board level

  • Ensure financial risks and controls related to new logistics contract and the transition to new provider are effectively identified and managed..

  • Support COGS alignment, analysis and partnering with Marketing & sales units, including analysis of current vs past performance as well as future COGS.

    Additional focus and responsibility over approx.

    12-18 months on the associated


Requirements for the job

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting and preferably an Executive Master of Finance and Control (Registered Controller), CMA / CIMA or similar

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in Finance and Control and Business Partner skills

  • Experience in all areas in relation to business control (internal control, business performance improvement, measurement & financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, general technical cost, inventory and tax accounting, data management/tools & systems and decision support)

  • End to end process and wider business acumen including risk understanding

  • Customer and result oriented

  • Good analytical skills and able to balance multiple priorities and meet (recurring financial) deadlines.

    Able to work on a monthly timeframe independently

  • Strong people management, interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate on multiple organizational levels

  • Eager to improve, open for change and actively supports our performance culture

  • Able to present and influence effectively

  • English is mandatory both written and spoken; knowledge of the local language is preferred
