Rotational Senior Occupational Therapist - Band 6 - Frailty

Rotational Senior Occupational Therapist - Band 6 - Frailty - Dorset Coast - NHS - £23.50 ph - 37.50p/h

We are looking for an experienced occupational therapist to join a Front of House team in providing a timely, effective, quality Occupational Therapy service to Emergency Care, Medical Assessment Unit and Short Stay Elderly care wards on a rotational basis.

The ideal candidate with have experience with elderly patients, community work and have worked within an acute setting.

Responsibilities include:

- Carrying out prompt, comprehensive occupational therapy assessments of patients with diverse and complex presentations in the short stay setting.
- Developing and delivering individualised treatment interventions that will enable the patient to function safely.
- Facilitating patients' prompt and safe discharge from hospital by providing an accurate summary of the needs of the patients and their carers, and ensuring that all the relevant professionals are informed and services are organised.
- Carrying out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments or follow up visits in the patients' homes (where appropriate), being aware of the potential risks involved.
- Participating in the weekend working rota for ED, Medical Assessment Unit, elderly care short stay beds.
- Freedom to act as an autonomous practitioner - you are responsible for planning your own treatment interventions to enable the patient to regain skills and for you to assess their ability.

These interventions need to be realistic and achievable.

The ideal candidate will:

- Be HCPC registered
- Have previous experience with elderly patients, and both acute and community experience
- Be able to excel in a such a broad role, and have a genuine desire to help people in the twilight of their lives
- Be reliable, pleasant, punctual and a good representative of Liquid Personnel and the profession in general
