Estate Surveyor - Hertfordshire

My client, a local authority based in Hertfordshire is looking for an Estate Surveyor to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary role and the successful candidate will have experience with non domestic properties and desirably be a member of RICS.

The main responsibility is to grow the income from the clients portfolio of assets.

Other duties are as follows;

To assist with challenging the use of the clients property through continuing asset review.
To help the Senior Estates Surveyor sustain a timely flow of receipts from targeted asset disposals.


To help manage challenging projects and assist with the delivery of major corporate initiatives, involving both the Estates team and appointed contractors and consultants.
Manage the clients non-housing properties (commercial properties including shops, workshops, and ground rented properties), carrying out rent review and lease renewal negotiations, marketing vacant properties, negotiating lease terms, rent arrears recovery, and lease enforcement.
Manage the rolling programme of asset valuations and provide valuations and property related advice in line with RICS and IFRS requirements.
Advise on property valuation issues.
Carry out options and development appraisals and feasibility studies in respect of properties and property related projects.
Contributing to the clients Asset Review process.
Develop and implement the clients disposals programme.
Manage acquisitions of land and property as required.
Maintain the clients Asset Register.
Manage the programme of rating appeals in respect of all client owned non housing properties (working with consultants).
Contribute to regeneration projects including the Neighbourhood Centre regeneration programme.
Work with external agents in areas including rating appeals, lettings to telecommunications companies, and acquisitions and disposals.
Contribute towards the continued development of the clients Asset Management Plan and implementation of projects deriving from the AMP.
Work with the Corporate Property Manager to review policies and procedures.
Work with the Corporate Property Manager and other officers in developing and monitoring capital and revenue budgets and Performance Indicators, particularly relating to Commercial.
Prepare and present reports to Environmental Management Team, Strategic Management Board, and prepare reports for Executive.
Any other relevant duties allocated by the Corporate Property Manager.
