Support Worker

I am recruiting of behalf of one of the largest care companies in Gloucester for Support Workers specialising in supporting adults within a Supported Living/ Residential care setting.

Offering an uncompromised standard of care, this business offers a comprehensive training package along with on going development and progression opportunities.

Full time, permanent vacancies including shift work, weekends and sleep ins whereby if you are successful you would be employed directly by the business.

Paying £7.20-£8 per hour dependant on experience plus sleep in rate.

Due to a comprehensive training package the business are able to consider a range of experience levels from applicants along with access to NVQ's

Supporting service users with a range of complex needs including Autism, Aspergers, Acquired Brain Injury, behaviours that challenge, Epilepsy, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol abuse, early on set Dementia, visual impairment and Anxiety.

Responsibilities of Support Worker:

Assisting with personal care verbally prompting/ physically assisting including bathing, showering, oral hygiene and shaving
Passionate and enjoy engaging in internal and external activities to promote the highest quality of life
Assisting with moving and handling using the aid of manual hoist and wheelchair
Administering medication including rescue medication for Epilepsy
Assisting with food preparation
Assisting with domestic duties
Liaising with local authorities, social services, CLDT team, doctors and family members
In specific homes, the capacity to lone work
Manage challenging behaviour
The ability to enable and empower service users to want to be as independent as possible
The ability to support service users with anxieties
Ability to follow risk assessments and care plans
Record keeping inline with CQC regulations

Person Specification for Support Worker:

The ability to communicate not only verbally but with the use of prompting aids and body language
Strong personality and able to establish boundaries
Good sense of humour
Ability to be creative with internal and external activities
Strong communication skills
Being assertive
Driving licence is beneficial but not essential
