Latrobe City Council is seeking to appoint a high performing human resources professional to lead a small team in the delivery of human resources services and solutions across the organisation.


About the Role


This role will drive change throughout the organisation and develop best-practice policies, procedures and systems that will enable the organisation to have the right people, in the right job, with the right skills, at the right time.

This leadership role is critical in supporting senior decision makers and managers on a range of industrial relations, employee relations and people management practices.


Key responsibilities include:



  • Advising senior decision-makers on a broad range of industrial relations, employee relations and people management practices.

  • Lead a small team of human resource professionals.

  • Actively contribute to the organisation's change agenda.

  • Developing and implementing innovative human resource policy and procedure using well established change management methodology.

  • Promoting an environment of continuous improvement in human resource management.

  • Working in partnership with managers and staff to achieve whole of organisation human resource outcomes.


Skills and Experience


Key to your success will be your ability to develop effective and trusting working relationships with senior decision makers and managers across the organisation.

You will be an expert in the application of human resource practice and have experience in leading a team, change management, dispute resolution, workplace investigations and policy development.

You will have highly developed soft skills with the ability to influence and communicate at all levels.

This role is ideally suited to a human resource professional with the ability to marry hands-on pragmatism with contemporary people management practice.

Prerequisites



  • A tertiary qualification in a related discipline and/or significant leadership at the leadership level, coupled with specialist experience in Human Resources and Industrial Relations.

    WorkCover and Injury Management experience would be advantageous.

  • Ability to lead a small team of HR professionals.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative human resources policies, procedures, systems and work practices.

  • Ability to manage change initiatives in a large organisational setting.

  • Proven ability to undertake workplace investigations and manage workplace disputes.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Legislation, Awards, HR policies and HR best practice relevant to contemporary human resources management with a proven ability to provide valued advice and support to management and staff in interpretation and application.

  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to effectively build trusting relationships with senior decision makers and management.


Desirable



  • A post graduate degree in a relevant discipline would be highly regarded.

  • Membership of a relevant industry body or association.

  • Demonstrated experience in and an ability to oversee a human resources information system.
