I am currently seeking Children’s Night Support Workers in the Derby area.

My client a Children’s Service provide care, support and education programmes to over 260 young people across the country.

They specialise in working with children up to the age of 18 that may also require enhanced levels of care, and hold over 15 years of direct experience of delivering services within a number of areas including Secure Training Centres, Residential Children’s Homes, transportation for young people, Reparation Programmes and other specialised services.

Through this experience they have developed unequivocal specialisms in working with and for young people, providing a number of specialist services including Social Workers, Psychologists, Substance Misuse practitioners, education services, youth work and various additional support roles and functions.

Therefore every employee will be required to hold a current enhanced CRB/DBS certificate.

Job Outline

Responsible for the supervision of young people at a Children’s Home providing advice, care and stability for the young people ensuring they are treated equally and provided with equal opportunities on a daily basis.

To ensure their wellbeing throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and secure environment to ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people.
  • Build and create mutual trust and respect with young people in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and instructions.
  • Define structures and boundaries of behaviour to young people, acting as a positive role model, so they understand behaviour expected.
  • Produce, maintain and distribute house paperwork to ensure relevant information is recorded accurately and is available.

    Complete additional reports as directed by the Home Manager.
  • Control and analyse the young people’s behaviour to avoid incidents and improve behaviour.
  • Create a positive culture and routine to ensure young people respect the night time routines and expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of and apply the relevant legislative, contractual and inspection framework requirements.
  • Provide support and advice to young people to ensure that they maintain positive behaviours at all times.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills

Ability and commitment to complete relevant training & QCF Level 3 qualification.

Full driving licence

Desirable Skills

Experience of monitoring service delivery and meeting short term objectives

Residential or non-residential care experience
