Economist - Commonwealth games bid - contract

The Commonwealth games due to take place in South Africa have been cancelled as Durban can no longer hold the games.

The UK is stepping in to see if they can replace them and you will be working for a public sector body that focusses on sports and culture.

They are offering a chance to be a part of the team that brings one of the biggest sporting events to the UK as well as a 5-month contract.



You'll be someone who is used to dealing with methods and procedures for obtaining data in relation to budgets and the economy and familiar with the HM Treasury Green Book guidance, this role is to see if it is financially possible for the UK to host them and you will be in a position to have a huge influence on that.

A lot of the role will be exanimating data and research to see how the games might pan out financially with liaison with local authorities and central government giving you a lot of easy networking opportunities.



Job requirements:



  • strong analytical skills and the ability to generate a robust economic impact assessment of hosting the Commonwealth Games in a range of circumstances

  • Familiarity with the HM Treasury Green Book guidance (attached) and experience of major sports events is desirable

  • DS cleared or willing to apply
