Assistant Manager Vacancy - Residential Children Service

A great opportunity has become available for an experienced children's services professional to join a large provider of children's homes as an Assistant Manager!!!!

The Assistant Manager is accountable for delivering a high quality care to the children and young people resident within the home, in conjunction with the Registered Manager.

This means that they are responsible for delivery of all care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the home, and all day to day management matters.

They will demonstrate the ability to build on the well established principles and practice standards existing within the provider and proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of childcare standards across the company.

Aims Of The Job





* To assist the Home Manager in all the managerial tasks pertaining to the function of the Home


* To provide a warm caring atmosphere within the Unit that is conducive to good child care and professional practices


* To make sure that the home complies with all the requirements of the Children's Act and the National Minimum Care Standards


* To recognise the potential of each individual member of staff


* To create a dynamic, caring and professional environment to enable the above to be achieved



Duties





* To be responsible for the day to day running of the home in the absence of the Service Manager


* To Maintain high standards of child care and ensure the running of the home complies with the requirements of the Children's Act and the National Minimum care standards


* To conduct regular supervision with staff and to promote and support their professional development


* To develop and promote new techniques and approaches to child care provision based in the home


* To organise and chair regular staff meetings


* To chair review and planning meetings

This provider are looking for an outstanding candidate who has the following attributes

Qualifications



* NVQ 3 (Caring for Children and Young People)


* NVQ Level 4 Management or NVQ 4 Care


* RMA


* Diploma in Social Work


* Post Qualifying Award


* D32/33 or A1 Assessor Award

Work Experience



* Residential childcare (3 years minimum)


* Wales : 3 years post qualifying experience in residential childcare


* Child Protection


* Supervision of staff





* Social Work management


* Therapeutic work


* Advocacy

* Children Act 1989


* Care Standards Act 2000 Children's Home Regulations


* Safeguarding children procedures
