Senior Field Service Engineer

The appointed Senior Field Service Engineer will need to be no more than a 45 minute commute from Derby and be happy to be the face of the company travelling to clients sites.

The successful Senior Field Service Engineer will have the following essential skills and experience:Â
- Pneumatics experience
- Hydraulics experience
- Previous experience working as a Service Engineer or Workshop Supervisor
- Experience using a variety of hand tools

Job Function & Scope Â

Responsible for in-house engineering jobs (repairs and manufacturing) & on-site contract repairs and projects.

The following activities and responsibilities form the important and critical aspects of the Job Description, however, there will be additional responsibilities associated with day-to-day business requirements: Â
 Â
In particular:
Inspection, repair and testing, on-site of our customers and customers Oxygen & Nitrogen gas systems, either fixed installations or mobile panels.
Manufacture, assemble, Inspection service and repair work of our products and other GSE suppliers ground support equipment and access equipment.
Work in conjunction with workshop supervisor to assist with manufacturing of our products in house including but not limited to assembly, machining, pipe bending.

Key to the role is good personal knowledge of manufacturing techniques and systems, relevant industry standards and best practice for the company products.

It is expected that a Senior Engineer will keep abreast of these issues as part of their personal development in addition to knowledge of health and safety best practice.

To ensure quality system procedures are followed, in particular handling, packaging and preservation, and product realisation.

Â
Ensure that all personal work is planned, properly risk assessed and carried out in a safe manner and that work or safety equipment is used correctly and PPE is worn.

This job will be field based and regular travel within the UK and sometimes overseas will be expected.

Communications Â
Report and liaise with Internal Sales Engineer:
Progress with customers expected due dates for orders and projects.
Specific technical issues with each project are identified and addressed.
Work load priorities and delays.
Material shortages effecting due dates of repairs and installations.
On-site work schedule changes and moving from site to site.
Quality issues relating to customer requirements & supplier performance
Communications with customers appertaining to their existing and future business requirements, together with new business opportunities.
The Internal Sales Engineer is to be first line manager but the position will involve working closely with other members of the company and following instructions and requests from them, in particular the Workshop Supervisor, Sales Support administrator and company General Manager.
