Procurement Engineer

We are looking to recruit an experienced Procurement Engineer with a background ideally in the Oil & Gas industry, for our client based in South Manchester.

Working within the Purchasing and Sales team, we really need someone who can continually evaluate and initiate the necessary changes in the departmental strategy as well as support the procurement function with pace and accuracy.

This is role that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, quick thinking, the ability to build relationships and experience within purchasing for heavy manufacturing or Oil & Gas.

Main duties to include:



* Sourcing components extracted from engineering drawings and database information


* Supporting the Procurement function with an even split between; deciphering requirements from complex bills of materials and sourcing activities


* Working closely with the sales team to ensure ultimate delivery of product within allocated timescales


* Utilising MRP system (E-FACS)


* Ability to read drawings and liaise with suppliers and Production Control for engineering drawings


* Supporting the Estimating team


* Ensuring best prices are consistently secured


* Allocating appropriate part numbers and raising PO's from requisitions whilst considering savings prior to ordering


* Continually seek new suppliers when increased demand is needed


* Monitoring approved supplier performance to ensure they achieve goals set


* Review and produce month reports highlighting performance


* Meeting with clients face to face


* Help develop an efficient and effective purchasing department, specifically in areas of policy and procedure, whose goal is to purchase requirements to specified quality and delivery, and within budget

We are looking for:



* Engineering background with experience in; purchasing raw materials, engineered products and services


* Ability to read engineering drawings (this is essential)


* Good understanding of material specifications (specifically common offshore grades and Norsok M650 requirements)


* Strong MRP Knowledge/capabilities


* Excellent attention to detail and strong rapport building and communication skills

* Salary: Circa £30k


* Hours: 8am-4.30pm Monday to Thursday with a 3.30pm finish on Fridays
