Summary of main duties and responsibilities

Professional/technical - Planning


Create files for new cases and assemble information required including zoning, programming, highway implications, conservation areas and listed buildings.

Researching case history as required.


Supporting planning officers with the administration of planning applications through receipt, validation, registration, consultation to determination and subsequent appeals.


Prepare and dispatch public consultation letters and consultation material for Ward Councillors and public libraries, and ensure consultation copies of applications are supplied to other divisions, directorates and external public bodies.


Ensure the delegated list is produced and circulated weekly.


Ensure site notices are dispatched and posted.

Carry out hand delivery consultation as required, and the collection and delivery of committee meeting material.


Assist in the provision of a counter enquiry service for the public and deal with enquiries, both telephone and correspondence, on administrative matters relating to planning and land charges.

Provide administrative advice on planning and land charges.

Professional/technical - Land Charges


Receiving and accepting new land charge search requests, providing advice and direction as necessary confirming addresses, fees, and requests for additional information.


Carrying out land charge searches and dispatching them.


Maintaining the Local Land Charges Register and other associated records.


Co-ordinating responses from other departments to search enquiries.
