BC6 – Shift Maintenance Engineer

LOCATION: Lydney, Gloucestershire

Salary: £25,000-£30,000


We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer based in Lydney, Gloucestershire.

The successful Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery.

Our client is a global leader in rubber compounding, the largest market they supply to is the auto-motive industry, where their customers go on to manufacture the rubber compound into products. 



  •          Liaising with production supervisor to monitor all plant equipment and repairs in timely manner. 
  •          Working with hydraulic systems and electrical. 
  •          Fitting new parts and making sure equipment is working correctly. 
  •          To carry out daily inspection and maintenance of plant machinery.
  •          To carry out weekly inspections of the whole plant as per requirement.
  •          To report any usages of stock items used and stock levels, so critical parts can be ordered in time.
  •          To liaise with supervision to ensure the plant is running efficiently.
  •          Carry out routine maintenance throughout the shift and during shutdown periods.
  •          To support the maintenance Manager in reducing all mechanical downtime.
  •          Develop and maintain strong working relationships with production team and management. 
  •          Communicate with colleagues at shift change overs, reporting problem encountered of shift.
  •          Work a reasonable amount of overtime to cover holidays and sick leave.
  •          Fill out daily report log sheet.

Skills and Experience:

  •          Experience in a similar / comparable role.
  •          Good level of fitness as will be on feet standing/ walking all shift, must be able to climb stairs and be flexible to work on machinery sometimes in tight spaces. 
  •          Experience in heavy / light Mechanical engineering procedures.
  •          Experience in computer PLC controlled systems.
  •          The capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures. 
  •          Team working skills to work cooperatively and liaise with people at all levels. 
  •          Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills. 
  •          Confidence to respond positively when under pressure. 
  •          Mechanical and electrical experience.
  •          Experience on hydraulics and pneumatics.

This position would suit someone ex-military, but all backgrounds will be considered.
