Formulation Filling Process Development Scientist







Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories PSS is searching for a Scientist in West Point, PA.


Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :


· Lab-scale formulation and filling of biologic, vaccine, and small molecule pharmaceutical products


· Lyophilization of biologic formulations.


· Interaction with cross-functional team members to identify parameters to be examined and design studies that will provide meaningful results with the least amount of time/resources


· Execution of laboratory studies in a safe and efficient manner


· Make conclusions/recommendations based on sound review of data or scientific literature


· Effectively summarize and present results and recommendations at meetings and technical review sessions


· Scientific report writing and review


· Support to regulatory filing authoring and/or review


· Collection and summary of historical data and information


· Sample management and delivery or shipping to testing labs


· Perform statistical analysis of assay data


· Lab supplies inventory management


The ideal candidate would possess :


· Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills


· Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail


· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude


· Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies


· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


· Hands-on experience with formulation and filling of parenteral products


· Experience with lyophilization process and technology


· Ability to develop and solidify experimental and investigational plans starting from a more ambiguous idea or problem


· Familiarity with aseptic techniques and experience applying them to the preparation and manipulation of sterile products


· Knowledgeable of GMPs as applied to manufacturing of biologics and vaccines


· Experience with manufacturing safety assessment and or clinical supplies


· Familiarity with DOE approaches and statistical tools to analyze data


· Strong laboratory/bench skills, with previous experience independently designing, executing and interpreting the results of process development/optimization studies


· Familiarity with cell-based potency assays for live virus vaccines


· Knowledge and understanding of techniques to examine stability, moisture, and the physical properties of pharmaceutical powders/lyophilized products is highly desirable


· Knowledge of methods to assess vaccine stability such as cell-based potency assays for live virus vaccines


Basic Minimum Qualifications :




  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering, biomedical engineering, chemistry, biology, or related field (if Bachelor's at least two years additional relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry)





· Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship


Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed.
