Software Engineer - Automation

Leading special purpose machine company with a strong order book who are experiencing a period of growth currently are looking to recruit a Software Engineer to deliver bespoke design solutions through the business within Machine Hardware build.

You will be at the top of your game and be used to programming one-off projects from scratch ideally using Rockwell software packages.

The company is very well established for a number of decades and work on a global level to a number of household name FMCG companies.

They have a demonstrable growth in both profitability and staff numbers continuing to go from strength to strength with a high level of repeat business customers.

The company designs and manufactures bespoke machines to a number of different sectors and have been won a number of major sector awards throughout the years.

The Software Engineer sits within the Controls team and will be responsible for overseeing a number of major one-off design projects on the hardware side.

You should have strong experience of programming special purpose machinery from scratch and be able to test and adapt as required.

The role will play a key role in machine commissioning with FAT and SAT exposure essential.

Ideally you will have worked within an ISO environment with a strong understanding of Lean Improvement.

You will need to take an innovative approach to programming and whilst the company does have a high level of loyal customers you should be able to continually improve the solutions offered to them.

You will need to be experienced in the production of software design documents and be able to interpret client requirements being comfortable presenting solutions at internal meetings.

Key requirements for the role are:

  • Educated to HNC, HND or Degree level in a relevant engineering subject

  • Strong knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens software packages

  • Experience of software design within a manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of global standards relating to the design and installation of industrial automation systems

  • Knowledge of robotics, vision systems and servo drives

  • Exposure to FAT and SAT

  • Experience of working within an ISO regulated environment with Lean and Continuous Improvement

The role comes with a basic salary of up to £50k based on experience plus company pension scheme and holidays.
