Legal Works is delighted to be recruiting a Privacy Manager with MEDIA experience for our client a leading UK radio COMPANY and the home of some of the UK's leading commercial radio brands.


Based in London with stations and hubs in several locations across the UK, the COMPANY has over 19 million listeners on air and is a model of efficient, brand driven, market leading radio.

The COMPANY entered the ‘Out of Home' sector in recently with major acquisitions making it one of the leading ‘Out Of Home' advertising companies in the UK with over 35,000 sites reaching 95% of the UK population.


This is a newly created role that sits within the legal and compliance team and is important to its growth plans, especially in the digital and ad tech space.

In this role YOU will:-
, Report to the Head of Compliance;
, Be the COMPANY'S go-to expert in all matters relating to data and privacy
, Take charge of setting and implementing the company's privacy plan across the business;
, Own, create and update policy documents, contracts, consumer communications and training modules
, Draft and roll out new processes, procedures and guidance;
, Keep up-to-date with legislation changes and regulatory (including ICO) guidance - and enforce changes across the business where needed;
, Ensure mandatory documentation required by GDPR/DPA 2018 is maintained, reviewed and kept up to date
, Perform Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) for products and internal systems;
, Liaise with the external Data Protection Officer, providing information on request (e.g.

PIAs and LIAs) and coordinating audits
, Monitor and review data privacy compliance within the COMPANY and identifying and agreeing mitigations;
, Be the first point of contact for any regulatory queries relating to data and privacy and direct responses to data breaches


To be successful You will:-
, Have experience and exposure to data privacy in the MEDIA, RETAIL, E-COMMERCE, TECH sectors;
, Be able to demonstrate experience in providing guidance and direction for data protection compliance, ideally within an ad tech and/or digital consumer media technology environment;
, Have detailed knowledge of data protection legislation, including GDPR and DPA 2018; with any international exposure an advantage;
, Have experience in dealing with data breaches and regulatory queries;
, Show ability to manage multiple stakeholders, strong business partners and understand technology and commercial concepts quickly;
, Be solutions focused / innovative in approach to creating an engaging story around privacy;
, Take ownership / responsibility for work and be comfortable working independently;
, Have experience in delivering training, writing policy documents and rolling out change;
, Have relevant qualifications in data protection;
, Show strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly;
, Be comfortable in an ambiguous / creative environment;

Our client is particularly interested if YOU:-
, Have Proven experience in delivering privacy-related projects across a medium/large-size business
, Have broadcast and/or media / technology / advertising experience
, Have knowledge of the UK Code on Non-broadcast Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing.

The role is a part-time role and the COMPANY can be very flexible with the how your days/hours are worked.
