Supported Housing Worker
Housing Worker, Paignton
A large housing association are recruiting for a Housing Worker to be based at one of their schemes in Paignton, to provide a service that will achieve key intensive housing management functions, ensure good operational performance and ensure successful move on for tenants and licensees.
This role is based within a supported housing service offering accommodation for 7 residents in self-contained flats.
You will be required to work alone for the majority of the time.
Residents at have assured short hold tenancies and are expected to move on from the project within 2 years.
The clients at the service are living with mental ill health and will have additional support for this.
The focus of the role is to provide appropriate support, encouragement and advice according to the residents of the scheme, in line with their individual needs to enable them to settle into and maintain their accommodation and their own wellbeing, and later to move on.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
, Ensure residents and applicants are well informed so that they can communicate their needs and views and make informed choices.
, Ensure residents are consulted about the services provided and are offered opportunities to be involved in their running.
, Be responsible for the delivery of housing management services and the safe running of the service on a day-to-day basis.
, Maximise rent and service charge income by ensuring that losses through arrears and voids are minimised through effective arrears recovery and void management.
, Liaise with the Services Manager and work closely with the local authority and other partners ensuring appropriate referrals are made and that the service has a referral process and eligibility criteria in place.
Manage the waiting list for accommodation and establish applicants' priority for accommodation according to agreed criteria
, Ensure that residents receive appropriate support, encouragement and advice according to their individual needs to enable them to settle into or maintain their accommodation.
, Take a proactive approach to the prevention of anti-social behaviour (ASB) including effective partnership working.
, Updating Open Housing system
, Pre void inspection and liaison of void work/completion
, Assessment of housing need
, Management of tenancy, including notices, attendance at court and eviction
, Monitoring of rent accounts and remedial action under arrears policy
To be considered for this role, you will require previous experience within supported housing, or generic housing management.
Any experience dealing with ASB will also be beneficial.
This is an initial 6-week contract with a strong chance of being extended.
The role is PT working 30 hours per week
Your hours of work will usually be Monday - Friday 9:30 - 15:00pm but there may be a requirement to work very occasional evening, weekend or bank holiday hours.
