RAN Project Manager

Experienced E2E RAN Project Manager with a strong Mobile Telecommunications technical background.To deliver project within the budget, quality and scope agreed in line with the programme requirements.

The role holder will work under broad direction and be accountable for ensuring the Project is achieved on time and within the required budget, quality and scope agreed with the Business Owner, to ensure that the business benefits are realised.

Must have Mobile Telecom Networks business processes and cross-functional working experience.

It is key that the role holder effectively controls and governs projects through industry best practice including effective management of the risks, issues and dependencies that influence successful delivery.

The role holder will be expected to build relationships with key stakeholders, plan and execute effective communications plans.

It will be necessary to employ key measures and promote required behaviours to support reduced cost, improved investment efficiency and faster time to market.

It will be key to employ effective matrix management, driving project teams and influencing key stakeholders drawing on sound interpersonal skills whilst operating industry recognised Project methodologies underpinned by Telefonica UK's people & cultural development paths in order to deliver best in class performance.

  • Prepare baseline management products, in conjunction with any Project Assurance roles, and agree them with the Project Board- Project Brief, Project Initiation Document, Work packages, etc.

  • Liaise with corporate or programme management to ensure work is neither overlooked or duplicated by related projects.

  • Lead and motivate the project management team.

  • Maintain the following records- Issue Register, Risk Register and Lessons Learned log.

  • Liaise with both Telefonica and external suppliers/ account managers.

  • Ensure that behavioural expectations of team members are established.

  • Establish and manage the Project's Procedures-risk management, issue and change control, configuration management and communication.

  • Manage the information flows between the directing and delivering levels of the project.

  • Manage the production of the required products, taking responsibility for overall progress, and use of resources and initiating corrective action where necessary.

  • Establish and manage the project's controls- monitoring and reporting.

  • Authorise work packages.

  • Advise the project board of any deviations from the plan.

  • Implement the configuration management strategy.

  • Ensure project personnel comply with the Configuration Management Strategy.

Key Requirements

  • Effective leadership and communications skills, projecting competence and credibility.

  • Experience running projects in large organisations where time to market and cost are critical success factors.

  • Experience of working in an environment of change involving new systems, new processes and culture change.

  • Stakeholder management skills to Senior level.

  • Driven and focussed, insists on high level of performance and does not become resigned to the inevitability of delays.

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and adopt innovative delivery mechanisms.

  • Proven track record of delivery and a track record of achieving results through people in a matrix delivery team.

  • Proven track record in capability development.

  • Structured and methodical, detailed conscious planner.

  • Telecoms Network or IT experience is a key advantage.

  • Preferably a member of the Association for Project Management, Prince2 Practitioner or PMI equivalent

  • Desirable : Knowledge of Telef√≥nica UK business processes and cross-functional working experience.

  • Desirable: Experience of delivering new tools and systems such as OSS (Operations Support Systems) and SON (Self Organising Networks)
