Building Surveyor

A local authority based in West Lancashire is looking for a Building Maintenance Surveyor to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full professional surveying qualification, experience with property surveys, experience with maintenance and refurbishment contracts and ideally, previous local authority experience.

The main purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive Building Surveying role to the highest professional standards on all aspects of the Council's and School buildings.

Also to provide design and project management role and supervise day to day and minor work building contracts to clients.

The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;

Carry out property surveys; collate information, cost and issue to Building Surveying manager.
Provide project management and design service
Provide the Group Property Manager, the Council and its Chief Officers with professional technical advice on all matters relating to design services and the condition of the Council's property as and when required.
Support and advise the Group Property Manager in their management role within Property Services and the Department with particular regard to the development and implementation of building design, construction and maintenance.
As Project Leader, provide design expertise on allocated projects.
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with client briefs and specified requirements such as Council Standing Orders, ARB and RIBA/RIAS conditions.
To execute the application of statutory and other controls, such as Planning and Building Regulations, with regard to contract administration and management.
Ensure adherence to site standards and practices, including H&SWA, CDM Regulations etc.
Act as Project Manager/Surveyor/Team Leader on projects as appropriate.
Provide initial cost advice to clients and adjust the brief as required.
Arrange for project programmes to be prepared and to arrange, with the Building Surveying Manager, the formation of design teams, comprising all relevant disciplines.
Ensure effective systems management of Master Bill and associated equipment.
Assist the Building Surveying Manager in developing or managing project competitions.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such are offering up to £19 p/hr Umbrella Ltd for the duration of this assignment.
