Essential Job Duties:

Independently operates a customer facing program to measure the shelf life of finished food, beverages, food ingredients, neutraceuiticals and other consumer-based products

The following key knowledge areas are required:

  • Deep understanding of shelf life methodology, including national and international standards

  • Knowledge of product development processes and how shelf life measures are applicable

  • Demonstrated ability to design experiments that effectively measure a desired outcome

  • Experienced using multiple software applications for design and implementation of experiments

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple customers, agencies, colleagues and vendors to implement and maintain a high performing shelf life program

Job Requirements:

  • Documents work in clear, concise manner according to laboratory standards

  • Understands basic sensory methodologies and how they are applied to shelf-life experiments

  • Independently uses and performs basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and software appropriate for assigned tasks

  • Effective time management skills to balance multiple projects concurrently

  • Ability to respond to deviations outside of normal work hours

  • Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment

  • Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment)

  • Drives and implements process improvement initiatives

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Will be exposed to food allergens (ex.

    Milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc.)

  • Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time, including working within a laboratory hood and standing at a bench top.

  • Occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds may be required

  • Overtime and weekend work as required

People Skills:

  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in science or relevant field familiar with the use of standard laboratory equipment

  • Must have a minimum of four years applicable work in a laboratory or similar setting

  • Experienced with computers and multiple software programs used to manage experiments, data, report design and instrumental data collection
