Care and Support Worker- Mental Health

Safehands recruitment are recruiting for Care and Support Workers in Gloucestershire to work with individuals with substance misuse related illnesses and homelessness.

You will be working in a team to break the cycle of homelessness by providing support to 16-25 year olds in supported accommodation.

This is a permanent position offering full and part-time hours on a rota basis.

The salary £17000-£19000 depending on experience.

The Role:


  • Offer direct support to young people in either a supported accommodation or individual placement setting as part of a wider care package
  • Engage with practical activities, in particular those which promote and develop learning, social skills, healthy lifestyles, arts and culture, aiming to broaden horizons and raise aspirations
  • Support individuals to engage in training, education, employment or voluntary work
  • Promote independence, preparing young people with the resilience and practical life-skills to progress successfully into adulthood and to realise their potential

Experience:


  • High level of spoken and written English
  • Ability to communicate with vulnerable people
  • Experience in managing difficult and challenging behaviours
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and cope under pressure
  • Empathetic, professional and strong social skills
