Salary: to £85K + bonus + car allowance


This is a unique opportunity, working with an ambitious telecommunications provider.


The Commercial Bid Manager is accountable for putting together compelling responses to a range of infrastructure bids that the business is invited to participate in.

This role impacts the short term and long term revenue of the business through proposition recommendations with individual recommendations of up to £100m revenue impact.


The role holder will be responsible for working with a range of end-customers, in the public and private sector, to understand and help shape their customer requirements, working with product, proposition, and sales teams to identify the relevant solutions from the portfolio, and articulate these in a manner that is transparent, and commercially viable for customers, addressing their identified and unidentified needs.


What we need for this role:




  • Substantial bid response and bid team management experience, in particular, the ability to work across boundaries internally to identify the best possible solution for a customer




  • Demonstrates expert insight about the infrastructure market (e.g.

    new sites, custom network solutions, government funding e.g.

    local full-fibre networks) and drive long term opportunities for the business by creating compelling bid responses




  • High level understanding of the key drivers that impact any opportunity- customers, legal/regulatory, operational and business performance.




  • Understanding of how a product and propositions portfolio can be leveraged to respond to a customer need, irrespective of boundaries between product definitions and organisational units




  • Highly effective at modelling analysing and interpreting data




  • Knowledge of wholesale telecom products (ed.g.

    LLU, FTTC, Ethernet).




Accountabilities:



  • Identifying the relevant product and propositions within the business portfolio, to respond to individual customer bids, both direct (communication providers) and indirect (end-users such as businesses or local authorities)

  • Leading the written responses to a pipeline of bid opportunities across the full spectrum of infrastructure sector, including strategic sites, business backhaul, government contractors, custom network solutions

  • Taking a leading role in coordinating the response to selected bid opportunities and the virtual team across product, propositions, account management, business development, delivery, finance, legal and regulations.

  • Contributing to the development of the strategy for overall bid response across a number of target areas, e.g.

    strategic greenfield sites, large business redevelopment

  • Articulating a mix of technical and commercial considerations to the customers in a simple, effective manner

  • Evangelizing new propositions with a range of customers in the public sector (government) and private sector

  • Identifying gaps in the portfolio and reporting back to the wider commercial & propositions teams for development

  • Developing new opportunities with customers and developing individual accounts, working with sales and account teams

  • Accountable for ensuring operational viability and readiness of the proposed solutions

  • Developing the P&L associated with key bids, and liaising with finance and volume forecasts teams to ensure these are reflected in plans.

  • Acting as a key liaison to the business, using insight data and offering strategic guidance for bid response

  • Leading others to deliver distinct pieces of work to enable the role holder to make a recommendation e.g.

    data analysts, market insight analysts, commercial and regulatory finance analysts and ensuring compliance of pricing and legal.


  • Acts as the commercial lead for the infrastructure solutions team, and as this liaison, programme manages the wider set of infrastructure commercial team deliverables for that unit
