Estimation Manager

Are you looking for a key role within the Defence sector? Do you enjoy highly regulated environments? We have an opportunity for an Estimation Manager to take centre stage and work on this exciting program within the Nuclear industry.

The Company

Our client is a prestigious world leader in the design, qualification and manufacture of instrumentation and Control Systems for a significant civilian nuclear program.

The Role

This exciting role will give the successful candidate the overall responsibility for the cost model, gather evidence and drive the program forward.

  • To drive the parametric estimation tool and manage the data produced.

    Working with the SME's for appropriate parameters, reporting on its outputs and then calibrate the data produced looking at previous project information.

  • To monitor and manage the delivery of the bottom-up estimation data by the various technical teams and sites.

  • To lead the delivery of the top-down estimate, working with the estimation tool vendor to optimize the models used and to calibrate those models using historic data.

  • To build a cost model in Excel, which will include costed risks.

    To work with the project planner to convert estimates of effort to schedule and hence a resource-weighted program.

  • To produce or assist in the production of various financial analyses which will be required by the contract negotiation - e.g.

    milestone payments, cost of sales and cash-flow analyses.

Applicants should note that there are two distinct estimates being executed and that the successful candidate will be working on both: A higher confidence limit estimate of non-recurring engineering for one particular large subsystem.

A lower confidence limit estimate of all other scope across the entire project life cycle.

  • Strong data / numeric skills and at least entry-level statistics (e.g.

    confidence limits and standard errors etc).

  • Experience of large defence / aerospace contract cost modelling gained from either the employer or prime contractor perspectives; ideally both.

  • Application of estimation techniques, particularly as used with digital and software systems - e.g.

    PERT & Monte Carlo analysis, parametric estimation tools etc.

  • Good project finance skills allied to strong capabilities with Excel (e.g.

    to pivot table / database integration level)

Due to the nature of work undertaken at our clients site incumbents of these positions are required to meet special nationality rules.

Therefore, this vacancy is open to sole British Citizens.
