Consultant Child and adolescent Psychiatrist


Lucas Love Healthcare are currently recruiting a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist on behalf of our client based in the Donegal region.

This is a new exciting post meeting the Mental Health Needs of Children and adolescents aged between 0-17 years.

The service will be collated with primary care in a brand-new state of the art facility, the consultant role will be one of a team of three consultants responsible for covering a third of the catchment area.

There is a strong Multidisciplinary Team that has been effectively engaging greater community support services and building strong relationships across communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and passionate consultant who enjoys teaching and developing junior Doctors and Students providing an array of opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.


Minimum qualifications:



  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.

  • IMC registration or in the process of registration

  • Must have excellent English with a minimum IELTs of 7 or OET at grade B


Responsibilities:


The post will fulfil the policy of providing Community based Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services and be in line with the following policies/reports;



  • Vision For Change (2006)

  • Mental Health National Service Plan

  • CHO1 Mental Health Service Plan

  • Donegal Mental Health Services Service Plan

  • National Framework for Recovery in Mental Health


Service Goals


Future service goals include development of;



  • crisis intervention,

  • roll out and delivery of Clinical Care Programmes,

  • improved liaison with Tusla, Jigsaw and other community agencies

  • Improving paediatric and medical liaison psychiatry


Consultant opportunities include academic links with NUIG Medical School through Letterkenny Medical Academy (there is a clinical lead/Hon.

Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry).

Projects on suicide prevention and young peoples' mental health (Jigsaw) have recently been established within the County.


Research projects, peer review, reflective practice, and CPD are all well established.
